CHANGING THE PERCEPTION OF DOMESTIC TERRORISM
Roslyn Dance: Virginia State Senator D-16 of Petersburg
Political profiteer aligned with coal companies
Cashing in at the expense of Virginia water security
Accountable for the release of coal ash water in to Virginia Rivers
Committees: Agriculture, Conservation, and Natural Resources
District 16 Description: Chesterfield County (Part), Prince George County (Part), Richmond City (Part), Petersburg City (All), Dinwiddie County (Part), Hopewell City (All)
Terrorist Roslyn Dance represents the Petersburg district, which is home to one of Dominion’s largest coal-burning facilities in the state. Dominion is a top contributor to Dance’s campaigns. Over the course Dance's political career Dominion has contributed $23,000, according to the Virginia Public Access Project.
These contributions paid off heavily for Domion in 2016 when Dance decided to trade in the interests of her districts health and remained silent during the most important coal ash vote of 2016.
In early 2016 Sen. Scott Surovell (D-Fairfax) introduced a bill that would have required Domion Power to fully excavate coal ash ponds to dry lined landfills away from Virginia rivers and communities. Dominion Power claimed that this would have cost their corporation $3 billion. Just days before the bill went to committee for a vote Domion Power donated $105,000 to state party committees. Terrorist Dance, was among those who sat on the voting committee. Dance was the last to vote and abstained, effectively killing the bill. Among the seven senators in the committee, Dance is the only one to have a coal ash landfill in their district. Terrorist Roslyn Dance shielded Domion Power by killing a bill that had the ability to effectively change the direction of coal ash regulation for the entire the State of Virginia.
Dance has shown that they are willing to sacrifice the health and water security of Virginians for the profits of Dominion Power. We call to all Virginians to make sure Dance does not have the ability to impact our environmental rights as a Senator. Rid this state of water terrorist Dance!
